A feature of technology is the use of a super conductor that loses electrical resistance while cooling to −196 ° C. This allows you to convey the power of the characteristic of the high voltage lines (110-330 kV), but without loss of energy during an average of 20 kV voltage and transmission.

The line provides reliable power supply to the central and admiral regions of St. Petersburg, where approximately 400 thousand people live. It is associated with the two transformer centers and can transfer up to 50 MW with the possibility of reverse power flow and control of emergency currents.

For cooling, the liquid nitrogen pumped along a cryogenic contour about 5 km long is used – a record indicator for such systems.

The project is based on Rossetei’s own developments as a whole, protected by more than 10 patents.
