In the first half of 2025, the defender from the MTS recorded and prevented the service of approximately 1.5 billion fraudulent service. This is 6% higher than the same period last year, which means an increase in the activity of telephone scammers.

According to the company, the main attacks were directed to the inhabitants of the city. Most of these challenges have been recorded in Moscow – 16.9% of the total. Krasnodar with 7%, with 6.5%St. St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk and Rostov-On-Don have less indicators.

The biggest load was in a subscriber in Moscow – they tried to pass almost 47,000 times. All calls were automatically recognized and rejected by the defense system.

The most common deception scheme is recommendations for investments in investment projects – up to 30% of all fraud attempts. In addition, the attackers are represented by telecom operators (17%), tax service and public services (13%) employees. This year, a new plan has emerged – fraudsters call school electronic diaries under the pretext of updating.

MTS service also monitors spam calls. In 2025, their structures changed: calls for banks and financial services took the first place and occupied 50% among all spam calls. Last year, the category of “Advertising and Surveys” was dominant for the comparison, which is now 31%. Calls from the collection agencies are kept at 5%.

Among the new threats, analysts have isolated the cases of use to deceive Maximum Messenger, which could show that new action scenarios of scammers have emerged.

In response to the growth of threats, the MTS expanded the functionality of the system. In 2025, the “Defender+” subscription was initiated, including digital protection and fraud insurance up to 1.5 million rubles.
