Information Security Specialist Alexei Lielykin, in an interview with 360.ru, said that the social networks that have previously collected additional information about users without any information Instagram* and Facebook*. In the case of MAH, the expert doubts that hidden shots are logical and are used in practice.
According to Gorelkin, some applications can really turn to the user room, but often this is done for marketing purposes, not for espionage, but for marketing purposes. Social networks uses such data to better understand the mass preferences and adjust the content. In theory, any messenger can activate the camera, but in practice it is not right and is immediately noticed for the user.
Modern devices are equipped with indicators showing that the camera is open. When communicating, a green or yellow point burns, which makes the hidden shoot almost impossible. In addition, it may be difficult to determine which application is, which also limits confidential registration possibilities.
MAH’s press service confirmed that the camera was activated only at the user’s initiative during a video call. Without the active action of the owner of the device, the application does not require or use the camera.
