How many times have we buried Battlefield already? The first problems began with the release of Battlefield 1, but even then it was quite fun to play.
Everything remains invisible in Battlefield V. And after the dubious launch of 2042, it seemed that even DICE had run out of strength, ideas and, frankly, self-belief. The developers apologized for the patches and promised to bring back “that same spirit,” but for a long time all we asked for was empty maps, strange classes and a sea of unanswered questions.
And now this day has come. The long-awaited Battlefield 6 has been released. Not a restart, not an “experiment,” but a return. This was noticeable even during the beta test, which I discussed separately.
With meat, the sound of shell casings, collapsing walls and those feelings for which we launched BF3 and BF4. DICE has finally made Battlefield again, which is no shame.
The return of the old schools
EA couldn’t afford a second total failure in a row. Therefore, Vince Zampella, the man who once created Modern Warfare and Titanfall, was put at the helm. His mission was simple and ruthless: get Battlefield back into shape, throw out the trash, make it taste good again.
Now the united structure of Battlefield Studios is working on the series: DICE is responsible for the base and network part, Ripple Effect is responsible for the live modes and support, Criterion and Motive took care of the campaign. The old consoles were thrown on board – only PS5, Xbox Series and PC. This decision led to increased levels of resilience and stability, but cut off some of it.
First, during the game, integral processes take place: without compromises and technologies, squeeze the future into old hardware.
Campaign. It would be better if she didn’t exist
There is a story part in Battlefield 6, and that’s it. That’s how I can describe her.
DICE calls it “the return of storytelling,” but in fact it’s a textbook textbook with cinematic elements. Events take place in the period 2027-2028, when NATO, tired of internal issues, fights with private military forces. Pax Armata Corporation.
In total, the campaign takes about 5 hours and consists of 9 locations. In fact, these are the same maps from multiplayer, slightly different in places.
The production is on par, but the dramaturgy is cheap, wooden dialogues, and artificial intelligence often resemble dummies from a shooting gallery. The campaign needs to show the mechanics and the world, but nothing more.
I can’t help but be tormented by the hope that someday a Bad Company level “story” will return. But for now it’s like that, alas.
At least it’s not annoying. And I want to praise you for this. After the previous conditions, expectations were below par.
The series is back to controlling chaos again
The classic system of four roles is back in place: Assault, Engineer, Support, Scout. Each class is again not just a set of skins, but real mechanics – with its own bonuses, gadgets, and even the speed of access to key actions.
The engineer repairs, the support supplies, the attack aircraft breaks through, the scout monitors. Everything is logical and, most importantly, it works. After being chased in 2042, this is a breath of air.
The most noticeable change is the Kinesthetic Combat System. DICE was clearly inspired by the new generation of first-person shooters, but adapted them to its rhythm. Now fighters move with weight and inertia, they can climb over equipment, shoot from under cover, deviate, change position.
You can even drag a wounded comrade to cover before reviving him. This is a new mechanic for the series, and it completely changes the behavior of the team. For the first time in many years, resuscitation makes sense again.
Jumps and slides from Call of Duty have been cut. There are no circular movements with a machine gun in your hands. Hurray, thanks!
The battlefield remains the same: heavy, dense, awkward in places, but a fair war simulation. And this brings out the realism that was so lacking before.
Gunplay and weapons. We meet a gorgeous destroyed system
Shooting is what makes the game worth starting in the first place.
Each trunk dries out differently. The recoil is different, the sound of the shots is recognizable. DICE focused on physics: bullets fly at the same speed, ricochets are possible, the range of destruction is calculated.
After 2042, when weapons were weak, this is a step forward.
The balance is not perfect yet. Some guns kill suspiciously quickly, and a couple of vehicle cards clearly crush infantry. For example, in the same Brooklyn. It’s strange that this wasn’t fixed during the beta, but oh well.
For the first time in many years, the destruction is working again as promised. The walls collapse not because of a timer, but because you broke through them. If a support is removed, the building actually sags. You can blow up a bridge and block the passage, punch a hole in the wall and open a new flank.
It has become more interesting to play because the map is alive. Each reflection is opposite: a house has fallen somewhere (Most of the buildings are not connected to the stand, but it’s still cool), somewhere a new crack has formed, somewhere the tank has destroyed the opening in which you were hiding.
Moving away from older consoles allows the Frostbite 4 engine to run at full strength.
There is no ray tracing in the game. And that’s even better. The game already looks great, the lack of RTX stuff is clearly confirmed by optimization. On my RTZ 5060 Ti Innovation produces stable 80+ FPS in ultra mode without DLSS.
Various cards. Suitable for everyone
Battlefield 6 launches with nine maps. DICE has finally realized that huge empty spaces are evil, and now the combat lighting is perfectly calibrated. In standard locations there are compact blocks with verticality, on snow maps there is a clear field for equipment, etc. further.
The best part is the pace. Previously, in some parts it was possible to go to the moment before the point and from the first pool. Are you level of resentment and upset? That’s what I’m talking about. Just empty running around for the sake of running around.
Now the balance of respawn, transport and distances is much better adjusted.
New modes have also appeared, such as escalation – hybrid arms races and capture points, where a new phase opens up new types. technique. It’s a fun alternative to the classics and a good way to test out different classes in one match.
There is enough technology, and there is a lot of it

Tanks, helicopters, armored cars and planes have been preserved, but now they do not break the match. The technology seems powerful, but the controls turn out to be harder and more realistic. Tanks have inertia, helicopters have noticeable turbulence, and planes can now land without committing suicide.
And yes. For once, the engineer is again in demand as a class. Here, equipment does not last long without appropriate support.
Optimizing proximity to ideal
DICE has learned its lessons. Battlefield 6 has been stable since day one.
Again, on my PC with an RTX 5060 Ti and an i5-13400f, the game runs over 80 frames at 1440p on an ultrawide monitor. And all this without DLSS. With it you can raise above 120 FPS.
On PS5 and Xbox Series X, people are also rejoicing. According to reviews, the game produces an honest 60 frames per second with dynamic development. Drops in frames only occur during massive building collapses, but are not critical. Yes, and I can do this, because I played battles on the PlayStation 5 in beta, and even then everything was amazing.
Bagov gets enough of most of the campaigns. There the AI is periodically stupid, and the bots get stuck in the textures, and the shadows do not correspond to the player’s movements, and the textures are at the level of the early “zeros”. In short, it’s clear that they didn’t bother with the story part as much as they did with the multiplayer.
Why is it Battlefield again?

Because emotions have returned here. It’s not for nothing that Activision was afraid of this release and even gave free access to Black Ops 6 for a whole week.
Once again, you feel the earth tremble as a tank flies past or a fighter bombs, and everything around you collapses. Once again you get lost in the chaos and realize that this is exactly what Battlefield is. This is a war where order exists for exactly three seconds.
Yes, DICE didn’t invent anything new. But again I really made a high-quality game that you want to play without stopping.
Why haven’t you bought Battlefield 6 yet?
Battlefield 6 is not a revolution or a revelation. This is a return to a normal, long-awaited reanimated body that breathes again.
Every match here turns into history. And, what is important, to win, honesty, blood and offspring. And, God, thank you so much for not having a ton of crazy skins like in Call of Duty.
DICE finally stopped chasing fashion and remembered how to make Battlefield.
If you’ve been bored by the times when a fighter on the card seemed like a real deal, this piece is worth your time.
