According to Huang, China is rapidly closing the technology gap despite US sanctions that limit access to advanced lithography equipment below 5nm.
The main driver of the market is HUAWEI with its Ascend 910B processor, which has already taken the lead among AI accelerators in China. After the ban on NVIDIA supplies to the country, American regulators allowed reduced sales of H20 chips to partially restore the market.
Huang warned that attempts to “contain” China could result in an economic blow to the United States. Currently, 20-25% of NVIDIA data center revenue comes from the Chinese market.
According to the expert, despite sanctions, the combination of state support, powerful developers and giants such as Baidu, Tencent and Alibaba allows China to quickly catch up with the United States in the field of artificial intelligence.
