Apple released the MacBook Pro and iPad Pro with the M5 chip. They became 15% more powerful
Apple has released updated MacBook Pro and iPad Pro. Both devices received the M5 processor, and this is the main change. The M5 chip, made using a 3nm process technology, consists of a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. processor. CPU performance has increased by 15% compared to the M4. Each graphics core has a neural accelerator. Thanks to this, at peak loads when working with AI, the M5 is four times more powerful than the M4. The MacBook Pro M5 processor is only available on the 14-inch MacBook Pro. It’s now even better suited for running local AI models. Apple has doubled the speed of the SSD and is offering a 4TB version for the first time. In Apple tests, the new product with M5 is significantly superior to the model with M4: ▶︎ Speed of video processing using AI in Topaz

The 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 chip is now sold without a power adapter in Europe and the UK.

In the box with the laptop there is only a USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable.

Buyers have to purchase a power supply separately. When ordering a laptop from the Apple Store, you can choose a 70 W charger for 65 euros (about 6 thousand rubles) or a 96 W charger for 85 euros. (about 7800 rubles).

The company did not comment on these changes. Probably, the refusal of the power supply is related to the regulation of electronic waste in the European Union.

In other countries, the power adapter remained in the box, and this did not affect the price.
