An article published in the Journal of Dietary Supplements and Nutraceuticals found that consuming New Zealand black currant extract mimicked the effects of exercise and increased fat burning at rest by 61%. This could contribute to weight loss of more than 3kg in adults, according to lead researcher Mark Willems, professor of exercise physiology at the University of Chichester.

16 healthy and physically active men participated in the new study. They were required to take blackcurrant extract capsules every day for 14 days.

Thanks to taking the capsules, men began to burn fat 21% faster on average. Individual impact increased to 61 percent. Overall, three out of four people improved their body’s ability to burn excess fat over the course of the study.
