In March 2025, European regulators accused Google of favoring its own services, such as Google Flights and Google Hotels, in search results. Thus, the koby company leaves competitors behind and makes it difficult to inform users about other options.

In a proposal reported in the media, Google plans to give equal rights to vertical search services (VSS). Each VSS will be given a separate search block where results from their platform will be displayed. Google results will retain their format and be displayed side by side. Blocks will be selected based on “objective and non-discriminatory criteria”, and data from airlines and car rental companies will also remain visible and will be placed above or below the VSS block depending on the relevance of the user’s query.

It is unknown whether the proposed changes will satisfy regulators.
