According to a Glance press release, the technology allows the user to “shop smarter” through a “visually immersive AI experience” built into the TV. Simply put, through the Glance mobile app, viewers will be able to add themselves or others to on-screen AI-generated videos, change their outfits, and then purchase similar products from their smartphones.

It’s unclear how many DirecTV customers would actually be interested in a feature like this. It is also unknown whether users will be able to disable these AI splash screens after launch. But commentators write online that it still looks “suspicious.”
