Siri was planned to receive two major improvements: performing actions within apps and using personal data for contextual responses. For example, an assistant can add items to a shopping list or find podcasts mentioned in conversations. However, the current implementation of these functions is problematic.
Siri’s situation may be related to the recent departure of a key AI executive. Engineer Ke Yang, who led Assistant’s web search team, left the company just a few weeks after his appointment.
Previously, Apple attributed Siri’s problems to the old architecture and promised significant improvements in the new version. The updated V2 architecture, on which great hopes are now pinned, encounters difficulties in operation.
Siri’s stability is critical to Apple’s competitiveness in consumer technology. The company continues to work on the voice assistant, but internal sources state that many technical issues should be resolved before spring 2026.
