GNSS RTK technology will make it possible to determine the location of vehicles with an accuracy of 2-5 centimeters instead of the standard 5-15 meters.

To operate the system, a network of reference stations with a range of 35 kilometers is created. The stations are installed on the telecom operator’s infrastructure and are equipped with receivers with phased antennas. Coordinate correction is carried out in real time via mobile Internet.

The project involves providing regions with high-speed LTE communications with the possibility of switching to 5G. The first phase of the system is currently operating on the M-11 highway and various test areas.

According to Arslan Urtashev, Yandex’s head of autonomous vehicles and trucks, the creation of a reliable digital infrastructure is the main condition for the safe operation of autonomous transport throughout the country.
