According to ITHome, the service is being developed as a direct competitor to Steam and will focus on international markets.

Job postings published by ByteDance indicate that GameTop will be a full-fledged ecosystem for creators, with user profiles, rewards, points, social features, and AI-powered tools.

The platform will allow you to publish and distribute games, as well as interact with the community, similar to how it is implemented on Steam and Epic Games Store.

The project is being overseen by new leadership from ByteDance’s gaming division, which is focusing on efficiency and self-publishing initiatives. Therefore, GameTop should be the basis of the company’s strategy to enter the global PC gaming market.
