The said alternative is Windows XP Delta, An OS adaptation developed by the enthusiast known as “SkyeTheWeeb”“. Contrary to expectations, the project does not aim to replicate aesthetic elements using only superficial modifications, it actually saves the entire platform in its original glory.
Completing the package, its developer also implemented programs never released by Microsoft and, with support from other contributors, adapted a number of other elements to the design of the time. Among them, the classics “Windows Media Player 6.4”, “Windows Media Player 95” and “Program Manager” stand out.
Enhancements and improvements under the hood
in an interview with TecMundo, the person in charge of the project gave some details about the development. According to him, work began in March last year when he decided to convert a virtual machine with Windows XP into the “Whistler 2428” build. Shortly after, the challenge was abandoned and sparked new ambition.
At that time, SkyeTheWeeb decided to develop a successor to “Windows XP AlphaBetas”, a variant that collects code from various test builds of Windows. However, the project was resized to be less ambitious and therefore only had functionality from Beta versions of Windows XP.
Until December 2021, Windows XP Delta development was carried out in a virtual machine and then adapted to a custom ISO. In this regard, SkyeTheWeeb has also implemented SATA driver sets that facilitate the installation of storage disks and other similar devices with the interface.

As its developer explains, Windows XP Delta is nearly complete except for some icon improvements and a possible refresh of the “Whistler” theme.
