It was 1995 when a group of international archaeologists climbed Mt. to snow-covered Ampato, 6,318 meters above sea level in the Andes mountain range, and discovered a frozen body.in his cloth clothes, who was buried 500 years ago very close to the crater volcano.

It was Dr. Johan Reinhard who led the discovery of a young girl from the Incan culture between the ages of 13 and 15, who was baptized as a girl.

28 years after this great discovery, Scientists from the Center for Andean Studies at the University of Warsaw (Poland) and the Catholic University of Santa Maria managed to reconstruct the girl’s facial features in a hyper-realistic sculpture.. The sculptural reconstruction was made on the basis of body tomography, DNA research, ethnological characteristics, age, and build. Modern forensic methods were used as part of the research and reconstruction.

Doctors Dominika Seczkowsra and Bartłomiej Chilewski developed a three-dimensional study and documentation of the Inca girl’s body, as well as objects found in her funerary context. After tomographic analysis carried out on the frozen body, tests determined that the girl was between 13 and 15 years old at the time of death, this conclusion is also based on the characteristics of her bones.

The Inca girl received a blow to the right occipital part of the skull, inflicted by a person who used full force with his right hand and caused her instant death.

The discoverer of Lady Ampato, Johan Reinhard, stated that he had always imagined what the face of an Incan girl would be like, now that he has seen the work done by scientists from the Center for Andean Studies and researchers from UCSM, he has fulfilled his wish and he is very influenced by the great work. allowing us to meet the girl who was chosen by the Incas in honor of the gods 500 years ago.
