The court ordered Samsung Electronics Australia to reimburse approximately $9.8 million within 30 days and an additional $140,000 in costs incurred by the Australian Consumer Commission. Samsung does not dispute the claims and has agreed to pay the fine.

The court ruled that the company cheated users after it mentioned the water resistance of seven Galaxy smartphones in nine ads between 2016 and 2018. We’re talking about the S7, S7 Edge, A5 (2017), A7 (2017), S8, S8 Plus and Note 8 models. The ad claimed that phones could be used in pools and seawater, but it wasn’t. ie water resistant.
