For a long time, almost nothing was known about the life of giant squids (Architeuthidae). The reason is that these marine animals live at very great depths.
Last year, for the first time, the moment of hunting squid of this species was captured for the first time. The conditions of such a hunt are absolutely extreme – complete darkness in arterial hypertension. For large-scale surveys with Nathan Robinson of the Spanish Oceanographic Foundation, a specially equipped deep-sea camera is used.
In order not to irritate the observed underwater animals during the shooting, it was necessary to use the backlight of wave radiation that is safe for them, as a bait – a dummy of a jellyfish equipped with bulbs that imitate bioluminescence at the moment when the signal conceals danger (its living prototype is an inhabitant of the jellyfish atolls). Atolla wyvillei – editor’s note TechCult.ru).
The squid was produced in the Esma Strait and in the Gulf of Mexico on gins pr pb.
