The federal government passed a bill to sell prescription drugs online. As part of the experiment, sales are expected to begin in March 2023. Sellers will need to verify the identity of who received the prescription and who received the drug.
The Russian government has given the green light to a bill proposed by the Ministry of Economic Development that would allow the remote sale of prescription drugs in Russia. This was announced by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, writes RIA Novosti.
The bill proposes to supplement the federal law on the sale of drugs in Russia with an article that will regulate the conduct of an experiment on the online sale of prescription drugs. The experiment is supposed to start in March 2023 and will be held in Moscow, the Moscow and Belgorod regions.
The bill requires vendors to verify the identity of the person who holds the prescription against the identity of the person who will eventually receive the drug. The Health Ministry explained the initiative by increasing the availability of prescription drugs for Russians.
The remote sale of over-the-counter medicines has been allowed in Russia since May 2020.
