The exit of foreign brands and a possible shortage in the market have caused the prices of construction materials to increase. According to a study by Infoline and the Petrovich construction trading house, the cost of repair materials increased by almost 20% in Moscow and 10% in St. Petersburg during the year.

In Moscow and St. Petersburg, the cost of repairs has increased.

The results of the study were shared by the publication Kommersant. Analysts noted that in the second quarter of 2022, the cost of materials for repairs increased by 19.9% year-on-year in Moscow, to 8.1 thousand rubles per square meter. m, and by 9.9% – in St. Petersburg, where repairs now cost about 8.6 thousand rubles per 1 square meter. meter.

At the same time, relative to the first quarter of this year, the price of repairs decreased by almost 8% in Moscow and 17% in the northern capital. The reason for the maximum value during this period was the sharp depreciation of the ruble and the increase in the key rate of the Central Bank.

The price cuts were not reflected across all product categories: disruptions to supply chains continued to drive up prices for wallpaper, sealants, plumbing, construction chemicals and dry mortar, according to the study.

The online hypermarket VseInstrumenty.ru told the publication that the average cost of building materials increased by 10-15% during the year due to the withdrawal of several brands from the market. The company expects a gradual “stabilization of prices” after the appearance of new suppliers in the Russian market.

Igor Kolynin, Petrovich’s marketing director, expects shortages of some items and further price increases.

The commercial director of Pridex Alexander Aleinikov also spoke about the reduction of the assortment. He said that despite the redirection of supply chains, the market remains highly dependent on stocks in warehouses. The expert added that the budget segment of Russia’s building materials market is mainly made up of local and Chinese products, most of which use Western-brand components that are not available for import due to sanctions.
