The number of fatal accidents involving scooters and other mobile individual vehicles in Russia has doubled from 3 to 6 in six months. The total number of accidents with this type of transport has increased even more significantly, by 2.5 times.

Data on the number of accidents involving various means of urban mobility (scooters, gyroscooters and others) were shared with Kommersant at the research center of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

In the first half of 2022, compared to the same period in 2021, the total number of accidents related to personal mobility devices increased by 2.5 times, to 370. 382 people were injured, six died, double the number in the first six months of 2021.

78.8% of the traffic accidents were collisions with pedestrians, in 32% of the incidents they occurred in a pedestrian crossing. The leading regions in terms of the number of accidents related to individual mobile transport were Moscow with 94 accidents, St. Petersburg – with 57, Krasnodar Territory – with 26. In 7 out of 10 cases, the transport belonged to an individual and was not rented.
