Italy is close to a $5 billion deal with Intel to build a state-of-the-art processor manufacturing plant.

He will, among other things, be engaged in the assembly and packaging of semiconductors. Intel’s investment in Italy is part of a broader plan announced by Chip at the start of the year to invest $88 billion in capacity development across Europe, Reuters reported.

Intel is thus leaning toward reducing the economy’s import dependency due to its exposure to the crisis, which has led to “dependency in manufacturing in Europe.”

The issue of closing closed ones was resolved by the end of August, on the eve of early elections in the country, scheduled for September 25. [Reuters]
