Russian marketplaces Wildberries, Ozon and Yandex.Market have created a unified information system to combat counterfeit products, Wildberries told RB.RU.

Wildberries, Ozon and Yandex.Market began exchanging information about counterfeit sellers

  • The system will include information on cases of placement of counterfeits, information on the seller of such goods, as well as data on documents confirming the violation.
  • All interested online retailers will be able to connect to the operation of the information system.
  • A market that finds a fake, after a request from the copyright holder (involves document verification), the consumer (involves document verification), or government agencies, blocks such offers on its resource.
  • After the blocking, the data is uploaded to the information system to check the availability of such offers and sellers on other sites.

Wildberries, Ozon and Yandex.Market implemented the solution on the AKIT site. The companies, together with the Federal Antimonopoly Service, also plan to introduce a mechanism to suspend the activities of suppliers who are seen making offers to sell counterfeit products and a procedure to reinstate their activities.

If fakes were noticed for the first time, the seller’s work on the site will be suspended for three months, if the violation is repeated, the supplier may be denied placement of goods on all sites.

Full access to the unified information system will be provided at the request of government agencies.

On the eve of Wildberries, it announced that in August it will launch the Digital Arbitration service, which “will protect copyright holders from unfair actions by other sellers, and buyers from possible counterfeit products.”
