Intel has released a product change notice for two of its processors, the i9-12900K and i9-10980XE. Both processors will now ship in boxes of the same size. This means the packaging will converge which makes shipments easier.
Previously, the i9-12900K and 12900KS processors came in a rectangular box with a large plastic plate inside. This plastic plate was a container for the chipset.

This isn’t the first time Intel has repackaged its flagship consumer processors. The same thing happened with the Comet Lake and Rocket Lake series. Interestingly, this change usually takes place 1-2 months before the release of new chipsets.
