Bulletproof Galaxy S20 Ultra: this is how the Samsung terminal saved the life of a Ukrainian soldier

According to NotebookCheck, @Osinttechnical’s war correspondent tweeted a video showing a Ukrainian soldier showing off his smartphone with a bullet stuck in its casing.

We don’t see the phone in the video, but it’s believed to be an S-View Flip Cover for the Galaxy S20 Ultra. A Twitter user translated the video showing the soldier saying that his phone cost around $675, which also suggests it’s a Galaxy S20 Ultra.

The soldier believes the phone and its ID tag saved his life. hinting that the Galaxy S20 Ultra and its body would definitely not be able to do this on their own.

Still, it’s an impressive performance from a former Samsung flagship that performed well in JerryRigEverything’s durability tests a few years ago and which we enjoyed so much in this review.

This is not the first case of bulletproof phones. Back in 2016, a former top Nokia executive said that the Nokia 301, first launched in 2013, saved a man in Afghanistan by stopping a bullet.

In other bullet-stopping news, earlier this month it was reported that a Razer headset deflected a bullet when worn by an 18-year-old from Torrance, California. The projectile pierced his window glass, ricocheted off the Razer Kraken headset and bounced off against the wall before falling onto the bed.

This news reminds us that the devices that we carry in our pockets every day and that connect us so strongly to the world are metal plates filled with chips and resistors. And, if you’re very lucky, they might even save your life, like this soldier.
