The program covers affected iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro devices for up to three years after the device is first sold at retail. Previously, this period was two years. The one-year extension is valid worldwide.

Apple started a maintenance program in August 2021 after it determined that a “very small percentage” of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices may experience audio problems due to a single component failure. The problem may be that the earpiece speaker does not sound during phone calls.
