Engineer James Brown created a Lego mini-computer and posted a video about it on TikTok.

The idea to make a computer did not come to him immediately. he wanted to create a mechanical keyboard with a screen instead of buttons. To do this, he bought a large batch of 0.42-inch monochrome OLED displays from AliExpress. But the project progressed very slowly.

Brown then decided to build a computer out of Lego because he was interested in customizing the components in a small package.

He ordered an STM32 microcontroller with a 48 MHz Arm Cortex-M0 processor and 16 KB memory. It powered the board and displays from a 9-volt battery and bricks with contact drawings that Lego discontinued in the 90s.

All of the screen software, with the exception of the Doom video, was written by Brown himself. The displays are hidden behind translucent Lego bricks. He put $40 on the whole project. [The Verge]
