US sales data for the iPhone 13 mini are so disappointing that it will likely be discontinued this year. This was stated by market analysis firm CIRP and has been said several times by various sources, as well as by the generally trusted Ming-Chi Kuo in September 2021.
In the first quarter of 2022, the most recent quarter, the iPhone 13 mini accounted for just three percent of total sales, the same as the 12 mini. The iPhone 13 is the most popular model with 38 percent. In total, 71 percent of all Apple smartphones sold are of the last generation. This is a 10 percent improvement over the iPhone 12 series in the same period last year.
There is no clear reason why the sales figures of the mini models are low. With the iPhone 14, the mini should be replaced with the Max version. Then only two screen sizes remain for the standard and Pro series: 6.1 and 6.7 inches.
