Apple will use the free space between the iPhone 14 Pro’s cutouts to display camera and microphone indicators, a source familiar with Apple’s plans told 9to5Mac.

By default, Apple will turn off pixels between notches. But when assembling a camera or microphone, a yellow or green indicator is displayed in the center, depending on which sensor is triggered. Apple can also display two dots at the same time.

Development technology users on the indicators between the cutouts to see which application is using the camera or microphone.

Apple’s ultimate goal is to make the indicators as visible as the green LED on a MacBook that shows up when a capture volume is running.
