Steve from YouTube channel Gamers Nexus has smashed the developer version of the Xbox Series X. Same as in the retail X Series, but with much more memory: it stumbled upon a 1TB SSD with 40GB total.

For consumers, the Xbox Series X has to make do with 16GB of memory. For a devkit it makes sense to have more memory; Games in development have not yet been optimized and a few debug programs will be running as well. However, 40GB seems too high.

Unfortunately, Steve wasn’t able to test whether larger memory provides better in-game performance: Xbox is blocked at hardware level. Presumably the previous owner of the device tried to play online, which was detected by Microsoft servers.
