Microsoft shows how to repair the new Surface Laptop Studio in a video on YouTube. In the 15-minute video, the laptop is completely disassembled step by step.
Microsoft’s Surface Laptop line certainly wasn’t known for its repair capabilities, but that seems to have improved a lot with the new Surface Laptop Studio. This way the SSD, battery and display can be replaced without removing the motherboard. Removing the SSD immediately leaves the Surface without power so that the battery cable does not need to be disconnected. Also, connections like the audio jack and Surface Connect port are modular.
So it looks like Microsoft is delivering on its promise to make repairs easy on its devices. The company came under pressure from shareholders late last year after attention was paid to planned ‘Right to Repair’ legislation. In addition to the video, Microsoft recently published service guides online for some Surface devices.
