Now, the manufacturing company of this model talked about the cost level of servicing a fighter aircraft.
Lockheed Martin officials said the company has managed to cut the cost of running the F-35 in half over the past seven years. It is planned to reduce these by another 35%.
Interestingly, a recent report by the US Office of Accountants showed that in fiscal 2021, the country’s air force spends approximately $7.8 million annually to operate a single F-35A. At the same time, the target indicator for this expenditure item was only $4.1 million.
It follows that even if Lockheed Martin cuts its operating cost by 35%, the F-35 will still be too “expensive” to maintain a fighter.
