Also, all Chromium-based applications in general have been affected by Windows Defender. Microsoft has already acknowledged the issue, saying that its security software identifies all apps based on the Chromium and Electron JavaScript platform as potentially dangerous.

For now, the best way to fix the problem is to update Windows Defender to version 1.373.1537.0. If that fails, the only option is to remove the official versions of the programs that are marked as viruses.

Recall that among the affected software are not only Chrome, but also WhatsApp, Discord and Spotify.
