In the past week, Google listed new items in the collection Experiments with Google and explained the project Small Signals Demonstrate how Ambient Computing technologies might work in the future. There are several prototype devices trying to fix notifications and subtly alert consumers.
Each of the devices uses Arduino and sends notifications in unique ways such as small jets of air, shadows, ambient sounds, motion and a button. The experiments were created by Google Seed Studio and Map Project Office.
“Every object has its own method of communication, such as blowing air or ambient sounds. In addition, its small gestures or simple controls bring objects to life and make them responsive to changing environments and needs.”

In any case, it is important to note that devices will not be released and these are only experiments to test Ambient Computing, a concept where the technology must always be present in environments to assist consumers.
Fortunately, Google offers instructions for assembling and programming devices on its official Small Signals page. In total, there are six objects that use subtle notifications to grab users’ attention in a simple and sensuous way.
