“Yandex” users with the help of a smart camera will now be able to copy any text with one click: from a banner, slider, book or report. RB learned about this from the company’s press service.
The camera recognizes printed text in 47 languages. The text can be saved, sent to a messenger or to a Yandex search.
For example, to find a textbook on the web, it is now enough to point the camera at the cover and click the “Search” button. The camera will also help you copy text from a slide or an outline from a report.
Neural networks are used for the new mode. One of them finds areas with text in the image, the second analyzes the styles of letters, neighboring letters and words. The same technology is used for text recognition in “Translation” mode.
At the end of August, Yandex released a bilingual version of the Balaboba text generator, which now supports Russian and English.
Balaboba generates texts using the Yandex YaLM language model, which solves natural language processing tasks. YaLM models are used, in particular, for “Alice”, improving order descriptions in “Services”, generating cards for quick responses in “Search”.
