The new subscription service may launch later this year. Bloomberg describes the initiative as “Apple’s biggest move towards automated repeat sales.”
Hardware Subscription Service may be associated with Apple One and AppleCare packages. The difference from the installment plan is that the monthly fee does not equal the price of the device divided over 12 or 24 months. There will only be a fixed amount depending on which device the user chooses.
Gurman says that Apple is now “actively testing the new service.”
