HE Davy Jones’ YouTube channel Gameplayrj was hacked this Friday (16). With 8.28 million subscribers, the channel is now called “Ethereum” and is currently broadcasting a recorded lecture with Vitalik Buterinco-founder of the cryptocurrency with the aim of conveying its credibility to the audience.

Jones confirmed on Twitter that the channel had been hacked and asked the YouTube team for help in reversing the situation. Channel followers and subscribers also tagged the platform’s official profiles to get a quick response.

Channel invaders have repeatedly replaced the live stream in question at the time of this writing. At one point the broadcast reached 5,500 viewers, but it soon ended and a new one began.

Such scams have already been carried out in attacks on other major YouTube channels. The scammers are trying to trick the audience with promises of quick earnings, especially by using images of popular figures in the cryptocurrency market.

The Elon Musk figure was also used in fake broadcasts made after the invasion of YouTube channels. In a recent case, the BitVex cryptocurrency platform channel was hacked and started streaming content, promising up to 30% of deposited amounts during misrepresentation.
