Roman Kumar Vias, Igor Vinidiktov and Alexander Solovyov, the founders of Qmarketing marketing agency and Qacademy online marketing and design school, launched an educational project in Indonesia and the Philippines in early 2022.
By the end of the year, the entrepreneurs plan to close two investment rounds totaling $13 million to enter Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia.
Currently, the online school of IT professions Refocus, a new project of Kumar Vias, Vinidiktov and Solovyov, operates through various legal entities. The parent company is registered in Cyprus, according to Forbes, citing Kumar Viasa.
The shares of all the companies are distributed equally, with the former co-owner of Skillbox and co-founder of the Ebac EdTech project in Brazil, Andrey Anishchenko, also owns a stake of around 5%.
In August, Refocus online school course sales exceeded $1.5 million. The startup is now operating in the Indonesian and Philippine markets. Expansion to Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia is planned for 2023. Under this, Refocus plans to attract $13 million in investments.
- To continue growth, the founders intend to close a $3 million round in October, having previously invested the funds received from the sale of Qacademy to Skyeng in development.
- In December, the company plans to raise another $10 million. With these funds, the partners want to launch the platform in Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia in 2023.
Kumar Vias points out that the Southeast Asian region is “good because of its remoteness from everything that happens in Russia”, there are “more prospects and fewer competitors”.
