Update 9.0 was released on Telegram, with which several new features appeared in the messenger at once. The biggest changes have affected authorization: now it can be done with Google and Apple ID.

Telegram added the ability to authorize via Google and Apple ID in a new update

The Telegram website describes the following innovations:

  • Sign in to Telegram. The authorization code in the application can now be received not only in SMS, but also by email. In addition, the functions “Sign in with Apple” and “Sign in with Google” appeared.
  • New links for users. In addition to the usual t.me/username form address, the username.t.me link format was made available to users.
  • emoji states. Premium users can set one of seven standard animated emoji states or choose from a variety of custom emoji.
  • New reactions. Updated the list of available reactions to the message, including those that were available only to Premium users. Premium account holders can now use any emoji as a reaction, as well as leave up to three reactions per message.

For Android:

  • Configuration of the order of downloads. When downloading multiple files at the same time, users can change the order of downloads by raising and lowering their priority.
  • New app design elements. Owners of devices running Android 13 and above can change the app icon based on the color of the screen layout.
