Matter allows devices from different manufacturers and different protocols to work with each other. It supports various technologies including Wi-Fi and Thread.

In the first phase, the standard supports light bulbs, switches, sockets, blinds, curtains, door locks, security sensors, and televisions. Future versions will support other devices.

Apple, Google, Amazon and the Connectivity Standards Alliance agreed to develop a single standard in December 2019. In total, the project supports several hundred companies around the world, including Yandex and Sberbank.

  • In May this year, it became known about plans to transfer new Russian buildings to domestic technologies for smart home systems. Standards for them are being developed by the Ministry of Digital Development together with other departments.
  • Subsequently, from the National Association of Housing Developers and the “Unified Resource of Developers”, a proposal appeared to include the “smart” housing service in the rates of communal services.
