The new Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones were launched this Thursday (6) by Google with an important innovation. In addition to performance and camera upgrades, the latest big tech phones have a Free built-in VPN will be available later this year.

VPNs are usually paid: Google, for example, has a Google One subscription plan that comes with the service. It is on a 2TB subscription which costs R$34.99 per month. Anyone who buys the Pixel 7 will get the VPN at no additional cost.

VPN stands for virtual private network and serves to hide user activity on the internet. On Google’s new Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Plus smartphones, it will work for everything the owner does on the phone, including internet traffic on android, apps and any browser used.

Focus on privacy

According to the company, the mobile phones will be the first in the world to bring a free VPN connected to the device. The company also assures that even Google’s own services cannot take advantage of information protected by the private network.

Google assures that it will “never use a VPN connection to monitor, record or sell your browsing activity”. The company, on the other hand, claims to collect aggregated data “to ensure a healthy and well-performing VPN.”

Unlike other services, Google One VPN does not allow the user to falsify their location; this is a feature used by those who do not want their location tracked or who want to access content from other places. Since the major technology is located in the United States, the country government can even get traffic data via VPN.
