Canon is expected to invest more than $354 million in a new facility in Tochigi prefecture, according to Nikkei Asia, which covers Japan’s industry and economy.

The company currently has two more facilities in Japan, mainly for the production of chips for the automotive industry, and expects the new facility to double its production capacity.

Canon currently produces 30% of the world’s lithography equipment. The company has not established a lithography factory for 21 years.
