Remedy Entertainment announced that the Max Payne will get a reboot that will be based on the first two video games, namely Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. The development of the game is the result of an agreement with Rockstar Gamesand the goal is to make a title fit for next-generation PCs.

The announcement of the Max Payne reboot was made during a press conference attended by both Remedy and Rockstar, with the former developing the remake and the latter financing. The game is being developed for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox X and S.

Sam Houser from Rockstar Games said:

As soon as our friends at Remedy approached the possibility of the Max Payne reboot, we got excited. We are passionate about what Remedy has created over the years and we can’t wait to play this new title.

Max Payne’s reboot will run on Northlight Engine. This is the first title in the Max Payne saga developed after 2013. Tero Virtala of Remedy added:

We’re excited to recreate Max Payne’s atmosphere, story, and all of the action by reimagining it.
