A number of tour operators, after the announcement of partial mobilization, bookings for New Year’s tours fell to zero. Many Russians revised their plans in this context, their decision influenced by the uncertainty with the border crossing by men of military age.

The demand for New Year’s tours abroad fell to almost zero

Tez Tour, Intourist and another representative from one of the major tour operators, who wishes to remain anonymous, complained of problems with the reservation, Izvestia reported.

Demand started to partially recover only in the last few days. Companies are trying to make up for falling sales through domestic destinations.

Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Thailand, the Seychelles and the Maldives are among the most popular countries for tourists during the New Year and January holidays. And now in the hotels of these countries there are no difficulties with the availability of rooms even on peak arrival dates.

Vice President of the Russian Union of the Travel Industry (PCT), Yuri Barzykin, believes that the booking situation is still far from critical. According to him, sales of new tours continue. The tourism market reacts sharply to shocks of any kind, but recovers quickly.
