An anonymous Forbes source reported that the information that the Boksitogorsky Timber Processing Plant became the owner of OBI’s Russian business on October 15 should be considered news about the takeover of the company by raiders.

OBI changed hands as a result of a mugger takeover – Forbes

According to him, the founders of LLC “MAX Construction and Investment Group of Companies” Yosef Liokumovich (60%) and Ilya Kolobkov (40%) did not sell five key companies to anyone, which comprised the Russian part of the OBI business.

The new owner of DIY LLC, OBI FTs, DIY Kazan LLC, DIY Severo-Zapad LLC and Obi Direct Import and Delivery LLC, a wood processing plant, was registered in March 2022 with an authorized capital of 10 thousand rubles.

Josef Liokumovich has owned the listed companies since August 5. At the end of July, the businessman signed an agreement with OBI GmbH, according to which the network companies were transferred to LLC Group of Investment and Construction Companies MAX for 600 rubles.

The deal was preceded by contradictory events: when OBI announced its withdrawal from the Russian Federation, the Russian leadership refused to close the stores.

The parent company responded by blocking the operation of the IT system in the Moscow office, but the local team restored the work using other software.

As a result, OBI GmbH was forced to sell the Russian business for a nominal sum, and at exactly that time, Liokumovich was appointed CEO, “representing the interests of the new network owner.”

Now Forbes has discovered that “From October 15, the Boksitogorsky wood processing plant became the owner of 90% of the Russian OBI business, 10% went to the little-known Interregional Public Organization for Promoting the Protection of the Rights of Entrepreneurs “Center to Fight Corruption”, registered in March 2020.”

The publication was unable to contact any of the owners of these companies. Liokumovich himself also does not comment on the situation.

A source close to the businessman, Forbes, insists that what is happening cannot be seen in any other way than as an attempt to gain control of the company.
