There are decisions that some companies see as doomed to fail almost from the start (and often they aim to generate additional revenue without introducing anything new). This has already become a recurring excuse on YouTube, because it is the segment of social networks or video platforms, where the intended options are known and users do not like at all (and, in order not to lose users). Again, this was an experiment.
Other ways to increase premium accounts
It’s perfectly reasonable for YouTube to look for ways to improve its paid service so that the free service doesn’t seem appealing to some. But this, shouldn’t remove options for free by now putting them on those who spend only about 12 euros, which is the cost of the Premium option. Things should be done differently and of course the company will find options that won’t be rejected by the community. The truth is that removing the free 4K as it turns out was not a good idea.
