A former student at the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) has been sentenced to 13 months in prison. Hack the email accounts and Snapchat profiles of the women who worked with him at the institution located on the Caribbean island. The crime of stalking in digital media includes shaming, threatening and harassing victims. Hacker Iván Santell-Velázquez, also known by the codename “Slay3r_root” and convicted of stalking more than 100 schoolgirls, did just that.
Leveraging phishing and spoofing techniques steal login datahacked several email accounts of college students. The defendant was also able to hack the accounts that some of the victims kept in the messaging application with the information obtained from the systems of the educational institution.
In some of these Snapchat profiles hacked By Velázquez, there were nude photos of users, material that the man stole and eventually shared on social networks. Attacks on student profiles took place between 2019 and 2021.

According to the US Department of Justice, the cybercriminal, stolen nudists harassing at least one of the victims with text messages, threatening to publish them. Candid photos were posted on Twitter and a Facebook page and were seen by everyone.
FBI Special Agent Joseph González, working in the Puerto Rico office, dangers of cyber harassment, like the virtual chases that occur in this case. As he said, the practice can have serious effects on victims “from suicidal thoughts to fear, anger, depression and post-traumatic stress”.
In addition to 13 months in prison, the cybercriminal was sentenced to two years of probation by United States District Court Judge Silvia Carreño Coll.
