The media covered several accidents with the Tu-154 at once. In 2010, this plane crashed with the President of Poland, in 2016 – with the Alexandrov Ensemble. What about the technical specifications of the aircraft? Is it really not as safe as other planes of its era?
Experts evaluate the safety of linings according to various indicators. For example, a rating of the 10 most dangerous aircraft was published on BuisnessWeek in 2009. Safety was calculated based on the ratio of cruise ship flight hours to the number of fatalities. In this ranking, the Tu-154 took third place: 1 event in 1041000 hours But if you look closely, it turns out to be the most dangerous cruise ship in its class.
In 2013, the Polish doctor of electrical engineering science presented a report in which he compared the Tu-154 with Boeing 727, Boeing 767, Airbus A300. You can see the table with the result indicators above. According to the results of the study, the Soviet aircraft is 13.7% more dangerous than the Airbus A300 in terms of the ratio of victims to the number of aircraft produced.
If we compare the Tu-154 with the previous Tu-104, it has definitely become safer – almost 2 times. The ratio of the number of victims to the models produced for the old aircraft was 5.5463, and for the new aircraft – 2.91.
