As Bloomberg reported on Tuesday, Intel is planning “massive staff cuts.” It has been learned from sources close to the subject that the number of dismissed may reach a thousand. While Intel has not confirmed the news, Bloomberg claims the layoffs will be announced any day.
Intel currently has approximately 113,700 employees. In the Bloomberg news, it is also stated that the sales and marketing departments will be most affected by the cuts and 20% cuts will be made. Intel last saw a significant reduction in employee numbers in 2016, with nearly 12,000 layoffs.
