In 2023, more than 75 million Russians made tourist trips to Russia. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko spoke about this at the exhibition and forum on Russia.
“At the end of 2023 we exceed the internal flow figures of 2019, the pre-Covid year. This is, preliminarily, more than 75 million [человек]”, TASS quotes Chernyshenko.
In 2019, according to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), the flow of domestic tourists amounted to more than 50 million people. According to Rostourism estimates, this number at that time amounted to a record number of 65 million people.
President of the Russian Union of the Tourism Industry, Ilya Umansky, during his speech at the “Russia” forum, also announced an increase in tourist flow in Russia. According to him, in 2023 Russians traveled around the country between 19% and 20% more than in 2022 and made around 86 million trips.
Umansky recalled the goals of the national tourism project, according to which by 2030 the tourist flow in the Russian Federation should reach 140 million trips per year.
In 2022, according to Dmitri Chernyshenko, the tourist flow in Russia amounted to 62.5 million people.
