Pavel Durov has published a new appeal in Telegram.
In it, he was indignant at the fact that Apple banned the sale of pictures in Telegram bypassing the commission by 30%. Also, the developer of the messenger of the government of different countries regulates the monopoly position of the Cupertinos.
Some creators have started using external payment bots to sell access to received messages. This way, content creators could get almost 100% of what their subscribers were consuming, which was great.
Unfortunately, we have received word from Apple that we are unhappy that manufacturers are accumulating their losses by not paying Apple 30% tax. Apple has fully discovered its ecosystem, we had no other choice than publicly available such paid publications on iOS devices.
This is just another example of a trillion dollar monopoly abusing its market ownership at the expense of millions of users trying to monetize revenue. I hope regulators in the EU, India, and elsewhere take action before Apple crushes more dreams and crushes more business taxes that exceed any VAT levied on the public.
In the meantime, we at Telegram will work to offer creators powerful and simple tools to monetize their mining—outside of Apple’s restrictive ecosystem.
