One way or another, Elon has to earn something by spending a fortune to buy Twitter, and the way to do that is to get paid. At least that’s what Twitter plans to do, which intends to charge $20 from a few really active netizens: verified accounts.

As stated in The Vergethe social network plans to charge a commission from verified accounts if they do not want to lose their exclusive Check blue which determines if the account is verified or not. It’s not yet clear when Twitter will implement this measure, but according to various sources, Elon wants everything to be ready by November 7, otherwise employees working in this function will be fired.

According to the current plan that the company has for verified, these users they will have 90 days to sign up for a payment plan Twitter Blue or they’ll lose Check blue tick.

The truth is that this will be the next step in the Twitter Blue subscription that the company launched a few months ago and which has special features, including the ability to edit tweets. Everything points to the mask interested in increasing the number of subscribersso they make up half of the company’s total revenue.

Twitter will charge $20 per month for half a million users, not everyone will pay

However, given the number of verified users (about half a million), it’s not clear if the company will be able to reach this milestone with this move alone. Even if half of them paid a subscription (which would already be a very large number), they would still represent a rather limited income.

In addition to this, how Check blue is something completely exclusive, the truth is it’s not clear at all that it’s worth the $20 the company wants to charge. Whereas, in addition, verified users tend to be the most active on the platform. And losing them could be the opposite direction Twitter is going to take.

Whatever the case, it looks like we’ll have our doubts cleared up in a few days, as the company plans to have this feature ready on November 7th. And from there, after 90 days, those verified who do not pay will be left without a blue check. It remains to be seen if anyone will be able to verify from now on whether he is paying tax on Twitter.

Also, Twitter Blue is not available in all countries. Will there be a global release?
